Working Woman

Today was a HUGE day at work for me, it was my first day working alone as a manager and taking pictures on my own without any one else to fall back on.  I was extremely nervous to start the day off, but it turned out so well! Everything went off without a hitch, I did a group of 6 (groups aren't easy, especially with little kids), I did a 2 month old, a couple families, and even a 1 week old baby!  There is no better reward after taking a family's pictures than seeing the mom cry when she looks at them for the first time.

Runners Block

So when I started out running, I was doing so well at going almost every day and was keeping up a pretty decent pace.  My roommate and I have been eating very healthy and losing weight to get into shape for summer.  And then I got stupid and decided to double my distance one day and see what I could do a 10k in.  I finished my 10k in 57 minutes and felt great after the run... and then the knee pain started the next morning. At first it wasn't that bad and I could still do some stuff on it without much pain, but I really felt something snapped when I was moving furniture up and down stairs.  Every since then it was been so painful to bend the knee and do any heavy activity.  This really SUCKS because I am trying to get back into shape and run a half marathon in a few short months!  Not only the running and getting in shape, but at work I am constantly squatting, sitting, going up and down steps and running down kids.  So now here I am laying on a couch watching T.V. and icing my knee thinking about how much I want to run to burn off all the calories I just hate.  I really hope it heals fast.

Margarita Monday

One of my favorite things about living here so far are the adventures that keep happening, both big and small.  Today's little adventure was margarita monday down by the water front at Tumbleweeds.  We originally planned today out to go with the neighbors and their dogs on a walk at the waterfront because it was 60 degrees (another perk about living here).  Then we discovered it was 99 cent margarita's at one of the restaurants on the river, so obviously we ditched the dogs and went there for lunch and a few drinks.  Roxanne our waitress loved us and decided that we were now her regulars every monday and that we have to sing her the song Roxanne when we come each time and request to have her as our waitress.  Such a great way to spend a beautiful Monday afternoon with friends.

PS.... If you ever go to Tumbleweeds, get the banana margarita.

The first month

Overall this first month has been amazing, I truly believe I am blessed with everything that has been happening. I knew right away that moving down here I would be surrounded with great people because of my roommate.  Living together has been nothing but great, and it's gotten even better because we recently moved into our 2 bedroom apartment last week.  We jammed 2 queen sized beds into a 1 bedroom for a month, and somehow made it work and never fought.

While moving, we met our neighbors, who we love and hang out with all the time now. (we also in the process of stealing their adorable puppy Henry).

When I moved down here I had a part time job lined up with Fastenal, but knew I needed to land a full time job fast.  Not even a week of being in Louisville, I got a call for an interview with the company Lifetouch, and within a few days I got a call saying I got the job! So here I am training to be the manager of a photography studio.  It's been great, but oh man is it stressful and overwhelming.  It's so much information learning not only how to be an associate, but also a photographer and manager. I am loving the opportunity though and I am putting everything I have into it.
